According to their mission statement, "Phillies Bridge Farm Project demonstrates and promotes local agriculture that is ecologically sound, community oriented, and economically viable. The Farm Project achieves these goals through farm demonstrations, educational programs, internships, research, dissemination of information, distribution of food to those in need, and the operation of a working farm."

Proceeds from the Annual Art Auction "help to fund educational activities, social outreach, and community service projects such as Farm to Families, which provides food to area residents in need." For more information call: 845-256-9108, or visit: www.philliesbridge.org

Art for Shelter Animals
I recently completed a series of three pet portraits for the Sullivan County SPCA, in Rock Hill, NY, as part of the Art for Shelter Animals Project. The portraits were donated to the animal shelter to be given as gifts to people who adopt the animals.

I first learned of the Art for Shelter Animals Project from Carrie Jacobson, who is a writer and a painter and is also a member of the Wallkill River School. The Project is a great way for artists to help support animal shelters, through their art, and to increase awareness of the plight of so many animals.
